Kara Marx, the program's owner, is a Code of Ethics Breeder with the Maremma Sheepdog Club of America, an AKC Bred with HEART breeder, a Code of Ethics Breeder with the United Kennel Club, a Good Dog Certified Excellent Breeder, and a certified BAB puppy temperament evaluator.

The Maremma sheepdogs in this program descend from working Italian bloodlines and are health tested with Paw Print Genetics, PennHIP, and OFA for hips, elbows, eyes, and heart, and are OFA CHIC certified. Kara selects parent dogs based on temperament, health, and structure, and deliberately works with geographically varied and imported lines to support genetic diversity.

Puppies grow up in the home, the barn, sheep pastures, a lambing and chicken pen, and a dedicated puppy yard, giving them early exposure to livestock and farm life. The early development curriculum draws on ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation), ESI (Early Scent Introduction), Puppy Culture, Avidog, and an advanced BAB puppy program, with socialization, crate training, leash training, and basic commands started before puppies leave for their new homes.
