ELWD’s Without a Hitch brings together the bold Appaloosa pattern we love with the fleece quality and strong conformation we expect from an Elderwood-bred Huacaya male. Hitch caught our attention early, and his square, boxy frame, substantial fleece coverage, and well-defined spotting earned him a place in our breeding lineup.
His dense fleece displays well-defined architecture and bundling, with impressive consistency across his color breaks. Hitch backed up that early promise with eight first-place ribbons across halter and walking fleece competition, plus second-place finishes in both at the 2025 AOA National Show.
His pedigree brings together generations of Appaloosa and Harlequin Appaloosa ancestry through both parents. As a grandson of FPC Peruvian Aiko and maternal half brother to Elderwood’s Twitch Craft, Hitch also carries forward a family we have deliberately preserved at Elderwood.
Paternal Heritage: Excelsior’s Patriotic Spirit
• Windspun WSA Patriotic Gentleman - Spirit’s sire and a son of Hobby Horse Farm Great Expectations, whose sire was SA Peruvian Black Epic.
• Excelsior’s High Voltage Tazer - Spirit’s dam, by NWA/Hearsum Paulo and out of Candlelight’s Cookies and Cream, a My Peruvian Zephyrus daughter.
Maternal Heritage: ELWD’s Totally Bewitched
• WT Gold’s Paiute - Totally Bewitched’s sire and a son of Incan Samantha.
• FPC Peruvian Aiko - Totally Bewitched’s dam and TGA Mario’s only registered offspring. Mario’s dam, Senna’s Zoey, was a daughter of 6Peruvian Century.
For breeders working toward bold Appaloosa pattern without losing sight of fleece quality and conformation, Hitch offers a combination we were eager to keep in our own herd. His production story is still ahead of him, and we look forward to seeing his first cria. Contact us to discuss breeding opportunities with Hitch.
