Crossbred

A crossbred yellow-collared macaw is a small macaw whose ancestry includes yellow-collared macaw along with another macaw line, or whose breeding background has been recorded as mixed rather than species-pure. Yellow-collared macaws, also called golden-collared macaws, are compact green parrots with a yellow nape collar and strong social intelligence. Crossbred should be used plainly in aviculture so the bird is not mistaken for conservation breeding stock.

Macaw keepers should ask for hatch records, parent species, band or microchip details, and any transfer paperwork expected in their region. These birds need long-term social planning, flight or exercise space, enrichment that survives a strong beak, and a varied diet beyond seed. If breeding is considered, crossbred birds should not be represented as pure yellow-collared macaws, because parrot records matter for both husbandry and legal clarity.
