White-Lipped Island Pitviper
Trimeresurus insularis
The white-lipped island pitviper is a live-bearing climbing viper of the Lesser Sunda region of Indonesia and Timor-Leste. Adults have a triangular head, a pale lip and a prehensile tail; natural green, blue and yellow colors occur in different island populations.
Specialist venomous-snake facilities provide secure arboreal accommodation with stable supports and shelter. Its venom is medically significant, and dangerous-animal permits can apply. Trimeresurus insularis is distinct from mainland Trimeresurus albolabris.
