Western Milk Snake
Lampropeltis gentilis
The western milksnake is an egg-laying kingsnake of the central North American plains. Typical adults have red or orange saddles or bands separated by black-bordered pale areas, although regional pattern varies. It is kept in specialist hobby collections with secure terrestrial space, retreats and a controlled thermal gradient.
Lampropeltis gentilis was separated from the former broad Lampropeltis triangulum complex. Historical red milksnake trade labels overlap other taxa and should not substitute for documented identity.
