Viper Boa
Candoia aspera
The viper boa is a short, stout boa native to New Guinea and nearby islands, including the Bismarck Archipelago, where it lives on the ground in forest and undergrowth. Heavily keeled scales and a death adder-like build set it apart, and its color varies from brown or black to orange and red.
