Vietnamese Leopard Gecko
Goniurosaurus araneus
The Vietnamese leopard gecko inhabits limestone forest habitats in northern Vietnam. Adults have a brown body, thin yellow-orange bands with narrow dark borders, an angular nuchal loop and orange to reddish eyes. Specialist keepers breed it in naturalistic terraria. Housing provides humid retreats, forest-floor substrate, climbing cover and moderate conditions with protection from overheating.
It eats insects and lays eggs. It is distinct from Goniurosaurus luii and the Japanese species; international trade is regulated under CITES Appendix II.
