Variable Poison Frog
Ranitomeya variabilis
The variable poison frog is a small, egg-laying Amazonian poison frog with green-yellow and black patterning that varies among populations. Captive animals need dense leafy cover, thin climbing stems and a well-ventilated humid enclosure kept at moderate temperatures. Feed very small supplemented insects. Adults use small water-filled sites for their tadpoles, so breeding requires suitable deposition and rearing sites. Maintain locality and lineage records rather than mixing differently labeled forms.
