Variable Bush Viper
Atheris squamigera
The variable bush viper is a live-bearing climbing viper of tropical Africa. It has strongly keeled scales, a short broad head and a prehensile tail, with natural colors ranging from green to yellow, brown and other tones. Specialist venomous-snake facilities provide secure arboreal accommodation with stable supports and shelter.
Its venom is medically significant, and possession can require dangerous-animal permits. Atheris squamigera is not identified by color alone, and vivid natural colors should not automatically be labeled captive morphs.
