Togo Starburst Tarantula
Heteroscodra maculata
The Togo starburst tarantula is an egg-laying arboreal African spider with a stocky build and mottled gray-white adult coloration. It blends into bark and constructs extensive silk retreats. Captive housing needs secure vertical shelter, ventilation, drinking water and appropriately sized insects. It moves very quickly and has potent venom, so maintenance should use methods that avoid direct contact. Younger animals may look darker and greener than adults.
