Tiger Thick-Toed Gecko
Pachydactylus tigrinus
The tiger thick-toed gecko inhabits dry habitats in southern Africa. Its pale body carries dark, irregular tiger-like bars, with adhesive toe pads and a banded tail. It is maintained in specialist collections and research colonies, where captive egg-laying and hatching have been documented.
Housing should follow a species-specific plan with secure retreats and appropriately sized insect food. It is distinct from a leopard gecko. It lays eggs; research has found strongly female-biased offspring ratios across viable incubation temperatures.
