Striped Day Gecko
Phelsuma lineata
The striped day gecko is native to Madagascar and uses forest vegetation, palms and cultivated habitats. Its green body has a dark side stripe and variable red dorsal marks. The nominate form has a white belly and sparsely flecked green nape, unlike the gray belly and often three black nape stripes of the island day gecko, Phelsuma nigristriata.
Specialist breeders provide planted climbing space, bright light, basking sites, ventilation and hydration. It eats insects and fruit-based foods, lays eggs and is in CITES Appendix II.
