Splash-backed Poison Frog
Adelphobates galactonotus
The splash-backed poison frog is a Brazilian poison frog whose coloration varies markedly among populations and captive lines. It is mainly terrestrial but also uses low climbing surfaces. Provide a planted enclosure with ample floor space, leaf litter, humid retreats and moderate temperatures, and feed small supplemented insects. It lays eggs on land and transports tadpoles to water. Keep color-form and breeding provenance with each animal rather than treating each form as a species.
