Siamese Crocodile
Crocodylus siamensis
The Siamese crocodile is a freshwater crocodilian of mainland Southeast Asia. Adults have a broad snout, dark olive-brown armor and a raised bony ridge behind the eyes. Specialist zoological and conservation programs provide secure aquatic facilities, dry banks and nesting areas; females lay eggs. It is listed under the US ESA and CITES Appendix I, and crocodilian permits can apply to possession and movement. Captive ancestry needs care because some farm stock has been crossed with other crocodile species.
