Serrated Casquehead Iguana
Laemanctus serratus
The serrated casquehead iguana inhabits wooded habitats from Mexico into northern Central America. Its slim green or brownish body has long legs and a very long tail, while the back of the head bears a low, flattened casque with a serrated rear edge. Specialist keepers have maintained and bred it in captivity.
A tall, planted enclosure with branches, suitable light and basking opportunities, water and sheltered cooler areas supports its arboreal lifestyle. It eats animal prey, chiefly insects, and females lay eggs.
