Serpae Tetra
Megalamphodus eques
The serpae tetra is a red freshwater tetra with a dark shoulder mark and a dark-edged dorsal fin. It is active and can nip fins, especially in undersized groups or with slow, long-finned tankmates. Provide a substantial group, plants, open swimming room and suitable companions. Feed varied small foods. It scatters eggs; adults can eat their spawn, so breeding requires protection for eggs and fry.
