Schneider's Smooth-Fronted Caiman
Paleosuchus trigonatus
Schneider's smooth-fronted caiman is a small forest crocodilian of northern South America and the Amazon region. Adults have a dark armored body and a smooth forehead without the prominent spectacle ridge of Caiman; it is distinct from Cuvier's dwarf caiman. Zoological and specialist facilities provide secure water, sheltered banks and barriers appropriate to an adult crocodilian. Females build nests and lay eggs. Its size does not make it a routine pet, and possession and movement can require crocodilian permits.
