Saw-Scaled Curlytail
Leiocephalus carinatus
The saw-scaled curlytail occurs in the Bahamas, Cuba and nearby islands, using sunny ground, coastal scrub and rocky openings. It is usually grey-brown with pale flecks, strongly keeled scales and a tail it often raises in a curl. Specialist keepers maintain it in terraria with substantial ground space, basking sites, secure shelters and sandy substrate suitable for digging.
A light and temperature gradient lets it move between warm surfaces and cooler retreats. It takes insect prey and lays eggs. It is also called the northern curly-tailed lizard.
