Sakishima Grass Lizard
Takydromus dorsalis
The Sakishima grass lizard is a slender green lizard from Japan's southern Ryukyu islands. A small pointed head, fine limbs and an exceptionally long tail help it move through grass and other vegetation. It appears in specialist terrarium collections. Housing needs usable climbing space with dense vegetation, secure escape barriers and basking opportunities, with cooler sheltered areas and regular access to water.
Small insects form its food. Females lay eggs. It is distinct from the brown-striped long-tailed grass lizard.
