Rough Knob-Tailed Gecko

Nephrurus asper

The rough knob-tailed gecko inhabits rocky woodland and stony plains in northern Australia. A broad head, large lidless eyes, rough tubercular skin and short tail ending in a knob distinguish it from smoother geckos. It is maintained and bred by specialist keepers. A ventilated ground enclosure uses sand, several secure shelters, a warm area and cooler retreats, with a moist refuge and drinking water.

It eats insects. Females bury eggs in suitable moist substrate. It is smaller and generally darker than the centralian knob-tailed gecko.

Colors: Wild Type
