Rough Greensnake
Opheodrys aestivus
The rough greensnake is a slender egg-laying snake of southeastern North America and neighboring Mexico. Adults are bright green above with a pale underside, keeled dorsal scales and a narrow round-eyed head. It uses vegetation and feeds on invertebrates, making it different from the rodent-feeding snakes familiar to many keepers.
Specialist accommodation provides secure planted climbing space, sheltered retreats and appropriate live invertebrate foods. Its natural green coloration should not be confused with a selectively bred color morph.
