Rhinoceros Snake
Gonyosoma boulengeri
The rhinoceros snake is an egg-laying ratsnake of northern Vietnam and southern China. Adults are often green and carry a soft pointed projection at the end of the snout; juveniles can be duller, so color alone is a poor identity test. Specialist hobby and zoological collections provide secure climbing space, branches, retreats and a controlled thermal gradient.
It is a colubrid, not a rhinoceros viper or cobra. Gonyosoma boulengeri is the accepted name, with Rhynchophis boulengeri retained as an older scientific search name.
