Red-Tailed Green Rat Snake
Gonyosoma oxycephalum
The red-tailed green rat snake is an egg-laying climbing snake of Southeast Asia. Adults are usually green with a blue-gray or reddish tail, a distinct elongated head and a dark eye stripe; regional colors vary. It is kept by experienced snake keepers and zoological collections.
Tall secure housing provides strong branches, sheltered retreats and a controlled thermal gradient appropriate to its tropical origin. Gonyosoma oxycephalum is distinct from the rhinoceros snake, whose pointed rostral projection is absent here.
