Red Slate Ornamental Tarantula
Poecilotheria rufilata
The red slate ornamental tarantula is a large, egg-laying arboreal spider from southwestern India. Its pale green-gray patterned legs and reddish hairs distinguish it from other ornamental tarantulas. Provide a secure tall enclosure with substantial bark shelter, ventilation, drinking water and suitably sized insect prey. Its speed and potent venom make careful, contact-free maintenance essential. Keep identification and breeding lineage separate from related Poecilotheria species.
