Red-Bellied Short-Necked Turtle
Emydura subglobosa
The red-bellied short-necked turtle is a freshwater side-necked turtle of southern New Guinea and adjacent northern Australian country. Its smooth oval shell is dark, while the throat, lower shell and limb margins can show red or pink coloration. Specialist turtle keepers provide clean swimming water, sheltered resting places, dry basking access and nesting ground.
Females lay eggs on land. Emydura subglobosa is a short-necked species, distinct from the long-necked Chelodina turtles and from selectively intensified captive colors.
