Pygmy Python
Antaresia perthensis
The pygmy python is a small egg-laying python of the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Adults are reddish-brown with darker spots or blotches, a modest rounded head and normal python lip pits. It is one of the small Australian Antaresia kept by experienced hobby and specialist collections, distinct from the children's, spotted and Stimson's pythons.
Secure terrestrial accommodation provides crevices or hides, water and a controlled thermal gradient. Small adult size does not remove the need for species-appropriate husbandry.
