Mixed Morph
Mixed morph poison dart frog refers to a Dendrobates tinctorius whose ancestry combines two or more captive morphs or locality lines. In this species, morph names such as Citronella, Cobalt, Patricia, Powder Blue, sky blue, mint green, or orange usually refer to color forms maintained separately by hobbyists, often with geographic or long-term line history behind them. A mixed morph may show yellow, blue, black, white, or green patterning, but it should not be treated as a named locality morph.
Keeping one is not very different from keeping other captive-bred tinctorius frogs: a humid planted vivarium, clean water, leaf litter, and a steady supply of small live foods such as fruit flies are central. Captive-bred dart frogs raised on feeder insects do not carry the wild diet-based toxins that gave the group its common name, but they still should be handled rarely because their skin is delicate. The important stewardship point is labeling. Mixed-morph animals should not be crossed into pure morph projects or sold under a locality name.
