Peters' Banded Skink
Scincopus fasciatus
Peters' banded skink inhabits sandy areas of northwestern Africa. Its stout body, short limbs and tail, broad head and orange-yellow skin crossed by dark bands give it a distinctive appearance. It occurs in specialist reptile collections, and captive reproduction has been documented.
Housing needs ground space, sandy digging substrate, shelter, appropriate warmth and cooler retreats, with insects as food. Females lay eggs, unlike some other skinks. It is Scincopus fasciatus, a separate species from Schneider's skink.
