Osborn's Dwarf Crocodile
Osteolaemus osborni
Osborn's dwarf crocodile is a forest crocodilian from the Congo Basin, recognized separately from the West African dwarf crocodile. Adults have a short broad snout and dark, heavily armored body. It belongs in specialist zoological facilities with secure water, dry banks and barriers appropriate to a dangerous adult crocodilian. Females build nests and lay eggs. It is covered by CITES Appendix I and the US ESA listing under the older name Osteolaemus tetraspis osborni; possession and movement can require permits.
