Olive Python
Liasis olivaceus
The olive python is a large egg-laying snake of northern Australia, using rocky country, woodland and watercourse margins. Adults are usually plain olive-brown with a pale underside and a long, distinct head, rather than the strong blotches of a carpet python. It is kept by experienced python keepers and zoological collections. Accommodation needs substantial secure space, sturdy retreats and a controlled thermal gradient. Its powerful adult size makes enclosure planning and safe management essential.
