Northern Spiny-Tailed Gecko

Strophurus ciliaris

The northern spiny-tailed gecko lives in Australian shrubland and woodland. Raised spines above the eyes and along the tail, together with large eyes and a mottled gray-brown body, distinguish it from smoother arboreal geckos. It can release a sticky defensive secretion from the tail. Captive-bred animals are kept by gecko specialists. Housing uses slender climbing branches, shelter, suitable light and a temperature gradient, with insect prey, drinking droplets and a moist nesting site. Females lay eggs.
