North Caribbean Bark Anole
Anolis distichus
The North Caribbean bark anole is native to Hispaniola and the Bahamas, with introduced populations in Florida. Its small gray or brown body blends into tree bark, while males display a dewlap whose color varies among populations. It is bred in research and specialist collections.
Captive setups provide climbing perches, suitable light, drinking droplets and moisture-retaining substrate, with a consistently moist egg-laying site and small insect prey. Females lay eggs. It is commonly known simply as the bark anole.
