Unknown Breed
An unknown-breed military macaw is an Ara militaris recorded without a named subspecies, breeder line, or complete parentage history. The military macaw is not a domestic breed but a wild macaw species with green plumage, a red forehead, white facial skin with fine feather lines, and blue accents on the wings and tail. Regional forms have been discussed in aviculture and taxonomy, but many captive birds are simply listed as military macaws when origin details are incomplete.
For care and management, uncertainty about lineage does not reduce the commitment involved. Military macaws are long-lived, strong, loud parrots requiring a large secure enclosure plus daily time to move. Training, social boundaries, and destructive enrichment are part of routine care. Because wild populations are protected and trade may be regulated, documentation is important for transfers, breeding, and sanctuary intake. Breeders should be conservative about purity or subspecies claims unless records support them.
