Midline Knob-Tailed Gecko
Nephrurus vertebralis
The midline knob-tailed gecko is a nocturnal ground-dwelling gecko of arid southern and central Australia. Large lidless eyes, a pale stripe along the back and a tail ending in a small knob distinguish it from the more heavily spined knob-tailed geckos. Captive-bred animals are kept in specialist collections.
Housing provides burrowable sandy substrate, separate warm and cool hides, a day-night cycle and access to water and a moist retreat, with appropriately sized insect food. Females lay eggs in sheltered substrate.
