Mertens' Day Gecko

Mertens' day gecko is a small tree-dwelling gecko from Mayotte. Its yellow-green body has a broad reddish-brown band along the back, a red midline and a blue patch behind the head; blue coloration can be more extensive in some animals. It is kept and bred in specialist day-gecko collections. Captive housing uses a bright, ventilated planted enclosure with fine climbing stems, insect food, fruit-based foods and drinking droplets. Females lay eggs. International trade is regulated under CITES Appendix II.
