McCord's Box Turtle
Cuora mccordi
McCord's box turtle is an egg-laying turtle known from Guangxi in southern China. A dark reddish-brown high shell contrasts with its pale yellow head, and the hinged plastron can close around the limbs. Specialist and conservation collections maintain it. Housing needs sheltered land, access to shallow clean water and a nesting area with carefully managed climate. It is in CITES Appendix II, with a zero export quota for wild specimens traded commercially.
