Crossbred
Crossbred maroon-bellied conure describes a Pyrrhura frontalis with known or suspected ancestry from another Pyrrhura conure, rather than a recognized breed. The maroon-bellied conure, also called the maroon-bellied parakeet, is a small South American parrot with mostly green plumage, a scaled-looking chest, a maroon patch on the belly, and a long reddish tail. In aviculture it can be confused or crossed with green-cheeked and other closely related conures, so parentage matters if species purity is important.
As companions, crossbred Pyrrhura can be social, busy, and quieter than many larger parrots, but they still need daily interaction and supervised time outside the cage. Provide room to climb, fresh chewing material, and foraging opportunities, since bored conures often turn to screaming or feather damage. Breeders should avoid placing crossbred birds into pure maroon-bellied programs, and buyers should ask for clear parent information when the bird is being purchased for breeding rather than companionship.
