Lined Gecko
Gekko vittatus
The lined gecko lives in tropical forests of the New Guinea region and nearby islands. A pale stripe branches across the head and continues down its brown back, while the tail carries pale bands. It is a nocturnal climbing gecko kept and bred in specialist collections. Housing uses a tall enclosure with branches, bark hides and plants, a thermal gradient, ventilation and drinking droplets, with insect prey.
Females lay eggs that adhere to protected surfaces. Males are territorial, and the species is better suited to observation than frequent handling.
