Unclassified Variety
An unclassified variety lemon tetra is a Hyphessobrycon pulchripinnis whose species is known, but whose aquarium variety or selected line has not been identified. Many lemon tetras are simply sold as standard stock, and not every difference in yellow intensity, fin marking, or body clarity reflects a stable variety. This label is useful when a fish should not be forced into a more specific category.
Care is the same as for other lemon tetras: keep them in a group, provide clean planted aquarium conditions, and avoid aggressive tankmates that disrupt schooling. For breeding, soft clean water, fine-leaved plants or spawning mops, and egg protection may matter more than the unclassified label. Sellers and keepers should describe visible traits plainly rather than implying a named strain without evidence.
