Lau Banded Iguana
Brachylophus fasciatus
The Lau banded iguana is a tree-dwelling Fijian iguana associated with the Lau island group. Males have pale blue-white bands on a green body and a very low crest; females are generally greener and less strongly banded. It is maintained in conservation and specialist captive collections.
Housing requires leafy climbing space, warm basking opportunities, UVB and a diet centered on plant foods. Females lay eggs in soil. It is listed in CITES Appendix I and under the U.S. Endangered Species Act, so trade and possession require careful legal checks.
