Javan File Snake
Acrochordus javanicus
The Javan file snake is a live-bearing aquatic snake from Southeast Asian freshwater and brackish habitats. Its loose-looking brown skin has small rough scales, and the head is broad and blunt with small eyes. It is maintained by specialist aquatic reptile collections. Housing needs carefully managed clean water, safe resting cover and water conditions suited to the animal's origin. This is not a terrestrial snake that can be housed with only a drinking bowl.
