Iranian Fat-Tailed Gecko
Eublepharis angramainyu
The Iranian fat-tailed gecko is a large ground-dwelling gecko of the Zagros region of Iran and Iraq. It has movable eyelids, a substantial fat-storing tail and dark blotches on a yellow to brown body. Captive lines are maintained and bred by specialist gecko keepers. Housing uses secure ground-level hides, a controlled warm area and cooler retreats, access to moisture for shedding and an insect diet.
Females lay eggs. Also known as the Iranian leopard gecko, it is a separate species from both the common leopard gecko and the African fat-tailed gecko.
