Mixed Morph

Mixed Morph

Mixed morph Indian star tortoise is a captive-keeping label for Geochelone elegans whose pattern, locality background, or breeding history does not fit a single named line. The species is naturally high-domed, with a dark shell crossed by yellow starburst markings, and occurs in India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. In the trade, some animals are described by locality or pattern intensity, but these categories are not always standardized.

Care is the same as for any Indian star tortoise: warm temperatures, strong UVB, dry footing with access to humid retreats, and a grazing diet based on grasses, weeds, and leafy plants rather than fruit or high-protein foods. Because the species has been heavily trafficked and is legally protected, buyers and facilities should prioritize verifiable captive-bred documentation before thinking about morph value.

Colors: Dark Brown with Yellow Star Pattern
