Indian Ornamental Tarantula
Poecilotheria regalis
The Indian ornamental tarantula is a large, fast arboreal spider from India. Its black, pale and gray markings camouflage it on tree trunks. It lays eggs in a silk sac. Captive housing needs vertical space, secure bark retreats, ventilation and fresh water, with appropriately sized insect prey. This species is suitable for experienced keepers who can manage its speed and medically significant bites without handling.
