Pasteur's Day Gecko
Phelsuma pasteuri
Pasteur's day gecko is native to Mayotte in the Comoros region, where it climbs trees and other vegetation. Adults are bright green with red dorsal markings, a yellow eye surround and a pale blue patch at the back of the neck. It is bred in specialist day-gecko collections.
A planted vertical enclosure with bamboo or branches, bright lighting, UVB, drinking droplets and insect and suitable fruit-based foods supports its habits. Females lay eggs in sheltered vegetation. Despite the older common name Indian day gecko, its native range is not India.
