Kinixys homeana
Home's hingeback tortoise is an egg-laying West and Central African forest tortoise. Its brown shell has a movable rear section with a steep downward slope, and the head and limbs are adapted for walking through forest-floor cover. Specialist and conservation collections maintain it. Housing needs shaded sheltered ground, leaf litter, access to water and carefully managed warm, moist conditions. It is listed in CITES Appendix I.
