High-Casqued Chameleon
Trioceros hoehnelii
The high-casqued chameleon inhabits cool upland areas of Kenya and Uganda, including montane scrub and forest edges. Adults have a raised casque and a short projection on the snout, with variable green and brown coloration. It is maintained and bred by montane-chameleon specialists.
Housing needs leafy branches, good airflow, a controlled basking area, regular hydration and pronounced nighttime cooling, with appropriately sized insect prey. Females give birth to live young. Its single snout projection differs from the three horns of male Jackson's chameleons.
