Halloween Hissing Cockroach
Elliptorhina javanica
The Halloween hissing cockroach is a wingless Madagascan roach with contrasting dark and orange-yellow body bands. Adult males have more developed pronotal structures than females. Females retain their egg cases internally and release live nymphs. Captive colonies need secure, warm, ventilated housing, bark or similar shelters, drinking moisture and a varied diet. Even young nymphs climb well; keep containment gaps small and preserve species-specific breeding records.
