Green Keel-Bellied Lizard
Gastropholis prasina
The green keel-bellied lizard is an active, egg-laying tree lizard from East African coastal forests. Bright green coloring, strongly keeled belly scales and a very long gripping tail distinguish it from the smooth emerald skink. Specialist breeders use tall planted enclosures with branches, retreats, suitable basking and lighting, airflow and misted leaves for drinking.
It feeds chiefly on insects. Its speed and slender toes make secure doors and calm maintenance valuable; it is a separate species from other Gastropholis.
