Gold-Ringed Cat Snake
Boiga dendrophila
The gold-ringed cat snake is an egg-laying Southeast Asian snake also known as the mangrove snake. Its glossy black body has narrow yellow bands, and the head bears large eyes with vertical pupils. It is mainly maintained by specialist keepers. Housing needs secure climbing supports, retreats, water and a controlled tropical climate. It is rear-fanged and bites can cause local effects; the striking pattern should not be taken as an invitation to handle it.
